STATEMENT: SARAH KLAU

As announced earlier today by Netball Australia, Sarah has accepted the findings and sanctions from Netball Australia’s investigation.

Sarah has expressed deep regret for the off-court incident and acknowledges that her actions were wrong.

“I am incredibly sorry for my actions and the impact they have had on everyone involved and the wider netball community.

“I take full responsibility for my behaviour and accept the consequences that follow. I am committed to learning from this and ensuring my actions reflect the standards expected of me and our sport.

“I am grateful for the support I have received. I care deeply about netball and the values it represents.”

Sarah has been a respected and much-loved member of the netball community throughout her 10-year professional career. She has played more than 100 games for the NSW Swifts and was part of two Premiership-winning teams.

At international level, Sarah is a highly valued member of the Australian Diamonds, having won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in 2022, a gold medal at the 2023 World Cup and a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games earlier this year.

Throughout her career, Sarah has also made a significant contribution away from the court through her involvement in charity and advocacy initiatives.

This has been an isolated incident in an otherwise distinguished professional career. Sarah understands that this does not diminish the seriousness of her conduct and remains committed to learning from it and doing better.
